“What doth hinder me to be baptized?”

Am I lost in sin outside of Christ?

Do I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for my sins and was raised from

the dead?

Am I willing to repent of my sins and turn to follow Christ for the rest of my life?

Am I willing to confess my faith in Jesus as God’s Son before men?

Am I willing to be baptized (immersed) in water so that my sins will be forgiven?

Am I willing to follow Jesus and worship Him in keeping with His word for the rest of my

life?

Acts 8:35-39

The eunuch asked to be baptized in water.

Before he could be baptized, the eunuch first had to                       with all his heart that Jesus

is the Son of  God.

Both Philip and the eunuch found it necessary to go down into the water before Philip

could baptize the eunuch.

The Bible says that water was sprinkled on the eunuch.

Little babies cannot believe or confess, and have no sins to repent of but they still need to

be baptized.

I Peter 3:18-21

The Bible say that Noah and his family were "saved by water".

Which does the Bible say?  "The like figure whereunto even baptism (a) doth also now

save us, or (b) baptism doth also not save us."

By being baptized, I will be making an appeal to God for a good conscience.

By what event does "baptism also now save us."

Romans 6:3-4

Since Paul says that we are baptized into Jesus Christ, are you in Christ or out of Christ

before you are baptized? (cf. Acts 3:1)

You can be saved outside of Christ. (cf. Eph. 1:3; 2 Cor. 5:17).

Paul says that baptism is a burial.

Do you “walk in newness of life” before baptism or after baptism?

Acts 22:10-16

Saul was saved and his sins were washed away when Jesus appeared to him and before

he was baptized.

Ananias commanded Saul to be baptized.

Does the washing away of sins come before or after baptism in this verse? (Brother: Jewish brother; Acts 2:29; 13:26; 22:1; Rom. 9:3)

Acts 2:36-41

The men who cried “What shall we do?” believed that Jesus was the Son of God at that

point.

Both repentance and baptism are “for the remission of sins.”

You can be saved without having your sins remitted (forgiven)? (untoward: warped; crooked)  * Refer to chart below

Mark 16:15-16

Jesus said, “He that believeth and is saved shall be baptized.”

Jesus said, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.”

Does salvation come before or after baptism according to this verse.

Acts 8:35-39

The eunuch believed that Jesus is the Son of God before his confession.

Upon his confession, the eunuch was baptized in water.

The eunuch had to wait for a special day or for the vote of a church in order to be

baptized?

Romans 10:9-10

With the mouth, confession is made unto

In order to confess Jesus as Lord, I must first                                in my heart that God

raised Jesus from the dead.

Little babies confess Christ with their mouth.

Matthew 10:32-37

In order to be saved, I must confess Jesus Christ before men.

Being a true follower of Jesus may cause strife in my family relationships.

Acts 17:30-31; Matthew 3:7-9

God commands all men to repent.

I must repent of my sins because God is going to judge me through His Son Jesus Christ.

Little babies have sins to repent of. (cf. Ezek. 18:19-20; Mt. 18:3)

Repentance does not involve a change in my actions. (vipers: a poisonous snake)

Acts 2:37-38

Those who asked, “What shall we do?” were told to repent.

To repent means to                     (cf. Acts 26:20)

I must repent to receive the forgiveness of my sins.

Those in Acts 2 who repented were also baptized the same day (v.41).

John 3:16, 36

Those who believe in Christ will have eternal life.

You will receive eternal life if you do not believe in Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:36-37; 9:1-6; 16:25-30

Each of these persons ask “What must I do?”

There is something I must do to be saved.

Matthew 7:21-23

Only those who do the will of God can enter into the kingdom of God.

Jesus said I can enter heaven by doing the will of men.

I can be rejected by Jesus even if I sincerely do many good works and call Him "Lord" but do             not do the "will of God."

Hebrews 5:8-9

Jesus is the author of eternal salvation to all those who                                    Him.

Jesus promised to save those who do not obey Him.

Acts 16:30-34

The jailor was told that he needed to                                     on Jesus Christ to be saved.

In order that he might believe, Paul and Silas taught him the “word of the Lord.”

Little babies believe on Christ.

The jailor was also baptized that same night. (straightway: instantly)

“Why tarriest thou?  Arise and be baptized and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” Acts 22:16
